Shauna La Pierre began riding at the Halifax
Junior Bengal Lancers and worked her way through the ranks, becoming assistant instructor, and finally head instructor. In
1982 she obtained her CEF Level 1 English Coaching Qualification. She was also one of the first in Canada
to earn her Canadian Therapeutic Riding Level 1 Instructor qualification.
During several years teaching at the Lancers she gained valuble coaching
experience in hunter, equitation, 1 day event, dressage, and Musical Ride. She competed successfully in hunter, eventing,
and dressage and was fortunate to obtain instruction from several national level coaches including Cindy Ishoy, and Robin
Hahn. After leaving the Lancers she attended Dalhousie University and completed a Physiotherapy Degree.
In 1999 she attended the Dr. Reiner Klimke Symposium (with
Lynda Tellington-Jones) in Los Angeles and the 2001 Dressage Canada National Coaches/Trainers Symposium in Toronto.
Shauna's passion is classical dressage and she
has an extensive library of classical literature.
She likes nothing better than to have a schooling session with one of her horses and then head to the "library"
to gain ideas and inspiration for the next schooling session.
Shauna also has a keen interest in horse and rider physiotherapy
and is a member of the Canadian Horse and Animal Physiotherapy Association. She is looking
at the possibility of obtaining certification in Equine Rehabilitation in the future.
